    The Gideon Library has a diverse and sophisticated beverage program that includes shaken or stirred cocktails and a wonderful selection of wines by the glass.



    The Gideon Library

    With books dating back to the Lindau family in the 1940’s and extensive recent additions, the library has been inspired by the Visiting Writers at Appalachian State University.  About 10 authors each year call Gideon Ridge home for a few days while doing a reading and teaching classes at the local college.  This has been going on since 1996.  

    The Library is a beautiful and calm space for our guest to relax, enjoy a cup of coffee or hand-crafted cocktail and socialize. In colder months, there is a fire in the massive stone fireplace.  We books of prose and poetry from the Visiting Writers along with a diverse selection of books about the region and also books by local authors.

    The Art of Fire

    There is something about a real wood fire in a massive stone fireplace on a cold day.  There is great conversation while sipping a cocktail watching the logs burn.  Or for more privacy, guest rooms (except the French Room) have gas fireplaces.
